This short film was created for FRUITION, a renowned Taipei select shop, drawing inspiration from American cooking shows of the 1980s and 90s. Framed as a nostalgic culinary segment, the video features the charismatic Uncle Buckley, whose exaggerated professionalism in ingredient selection becomes a playful embodiment of FRUITION’s core ethos: “We Select the Best For You.”
Through the use of retro visual effects, canned laughter, and theatrical overacting, the piece reanimates the visual codes of vintage television—inviting audiences into a stylized time warp where consumer culture and performative sincerity collide. The film not only revives a bygone media aesthetic but also recontextualizes it within contemporary branding, blending satire and homage to explore the cultural memory of taste, quality, and spectacle.
