Abstract
Chat with Future You is a personal AI project that explores identity reconstruction through digital traces and self-directed narrative design. By collecting personal data from social media posts, emails, Google search history, diaries, and other digital footprints, the project constructs a chatbot that embodies a speculative future self. This AI is not merely a mirror of the past, but a projection shaped by the user’s evolving goals, dreams, and imagined futures.
Through this dialogue with one’s future self, the project rethinks how memory, desire, and self-narration intersect in the age of AI. It positions the chatbot as a living archive—both autobiographical and aspirational—inviting users to engage in an intimate, reflexive conversation that blurs the line between reflection and projection, documentation and invention. In doing so, Chat with Future You offers a framework for re-authoring the self across time, mediated by machine learning and personal data.
