Summary

YUUSHIEN is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher whose work spans filmmaking, computational design, and digital media arts. Her creative practice engages deeply with themes of hyperreality, virtual embodiment, and digital culture, often situated within speculative and immersive environments. Yu’s films have received international recognition, including an Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica, as well as accolades from CICLOPE, the Telly Awards, and nominations at major festivals such as Berlin Fashion Film Festival, Fashion Film Festival Milano, and NYC Video Art & Experimental Film Festival.

A graduate of the Digital Futures program at OCAD University, Yu’s recent work investigates the intersection of human-AI interaction, generative aesthetics, and posthuman cinema. She combines technical proficiency in Unreal Engine, AI-based generative tools, and interactive media systems with critical inquiry into digital storytelling, virtual production, and machinima. Her practice-led research reflects a commitment to exploring the cultural, philosophical, and aesthetic implications of emerging technologies within visual narratives and virtual worlds.
