1-900- We Offer Friends

Introduction

1-900-We Offer Friends is a campaign series created for Plateau, a fashion brand based in both Taipei and Japan. Inspired by the brand’s signature slogan “We Offer Friends,” the project draws visual and conceptual cues from 1990s late-night television dating ads.

Styled in the aesthetic language of vintage tele-advertising—soft focus visuals, lo-fi music beds, voice-over monologues, and split-screen frames—the campaign conjures a fictional broadcast space where friendship is both product and promise. In this imagined world, a "friend" is no longer just a social role, but a vessel of emotional projection: a reflection of longing, intimacy, and the peculiar ways humans once reached out for connection before the digital age.

1-900-We Offer Friends reanimates a piece of media history while transforming the brand ethos into an emotional fantasy service. In a time of hyper-efficiency and detached communication, the campaign offers a poetic counterpoint—a dreamlike phone line to possibility, where the act of reaching out becomes a gesture of care, curiosity, and communion.
